This page provides sample resumes. You should review these resumes and apply aspects of them that relate closely to your situation – your major and your job interests. Before you review the resumes, however, you need to understand the rationale behind the formatting decisions. Please read the section in the book that discusses how to weight and portray different aspects of your credentials. Don’t apply these samples blindly to your situation. You’ll have to use your judgment in developing your own resume after applying the principles previously discussed in the book.
To emphasize an important point in the book that job candidates will need different resumes when they apply to different jobs, you will see at the top of each of the resumes on this page a rectangular box. In the rectangle is a description of the type of job the resume is used for in order to customize the approach to a company. As noted in the book, for example, a legal studies major might have one resume for law firms and another one for a business other than a law firm. The note inside the rectangle at the top of each resume below would NOT appear in the resume. It is there just so that the reader can better understand the purpose of the resume.
Check back frequently because resumes for other majors will be added throughout the summer of 2016.
